Haute Couture by Julien Fournié, Fall/Winter 2024-2025: Marie-Antoinette Reimagined

Julien Fournié’s haute couture collection for Fall/Winter 2024 will be presented on June 25, 2024, at the Musée Grévin. It’s a wonderful tribute to Marie-Antoinette. Fournié’s blend of historical grandeur and modern ingenuity is inspired by the last queen of France, who was famed for her adventurous fashion choices. Fournié’s collection, Last Queen, celebrates Marie-Antoinette’s influence on European design. Fournié writes, « Marie-Antoinette was a style icon who set trends across courts. » His collection pays tribute to her by reinterpreting eighteenth-century beauty in new ways.

Important accessories include a plum silk raincoat worn over a pastel leather suit with fleur-de-lis embellishments and a leather crown. Another striking piece is a ball gown with layers of pink silk and a floral bustier, which symbolizes the queen’s love of extravagance. Along with exploring masculine-inspired suits and a distinctive « gothic rockabilly » appearance, Fournié also experiments with current silhouettes. Monogrammed tote bags, « ex voto » earrings, and the latest « big bang » purses in subtle hues are must-have accessories. The collection’s highlight is a white silk organza gown with silver embroidery that reimagines Marie-Antoinette’s iconic jewelry, which she did not wear. From June 28 to September 1, 2024, six of these magnificent ensembles will be on display at the Grévin Museum, presenting haute fashion to a wider audience. Fournié’s collection combines historical magnificence with contemporary flair, honoring Marie-Antoinette’s continuing influence on fashion.
