Franck Sorbier’s Fall/Winter 2024-2025 haute couture collection, « Clouds, » transports us to a strange world where immaculate design meets the transitory beauty of clouds. This collection, which was presented at Paris, celebrates the majesty and lightness of clouds by drawing inspiration from their celestial attraction. Sorbier employs exceptional workmanship to create designs that capture the fragile and ever-changing characteristics of clouds. The cumulus suit features a billowing ecru tulle jacket adorned with playful ball points to mimic the airy feel of cumulus clouds. The stratus sheath, on the other hand, has a layered, serene appearance reminiscent of stratus clouds and is comprised of black lace and ecru tulle. The Altostratus coat, embroidered with silver « cloud » motifs, and the Pyrocumulus dress, with its dramatic shawl collar and bubble skirt, are two of the most striking pieces. Every piece in the collection tells a story, from the Nebulosus jacket in hand-painted silk velvet to the Flocus strapless dress in layered silk tulle with historical ornaments. Sorbier’s « Clouds » collection merges fashion with nature’s fleeting beauty to celebrate creativity and beauty. Each piece of clothing not only demonstrates his technical prowess but also evokes the enduring fascination of clouds, serving as a philosophical essay on the beauty and transitory aspects of life.
