HAUTE COUTURE HAUTE COUTURE Spring/Summer 2024

Simone Rocha and Jean Paul Gaultier Present a Haute Couture Symphony for Spring/Summer 2024

Simone Rocha’s inaugural couture collection in partnership with Jean Paul Gaultier
during Haute Couture Week reignited the fashion industry’s interest. This was Rocha’s first
step into haute couture, bringing her own Irish taste to the Paris runway.
The collection flawlessly combined both houses’ unique elements, resulting in a stunning array
of dramatic silhouettes, ballgowns, and tulle creations. Bows, frills, rhinestones, pearls, and
flowers decorated corsets and sailor-inspired accessories, as well as Rocha’s take on Gaultier’s
signature cone bra.
The 36-piece collection embraced Gaultier’s style principles, such as corsets, cone bras, striped
jerseys, and sailor caps, reinvented through Rocha’s vision. Pink and tulle reigned, with black
costumes incorporating geometric suits and metallic appliqués.
Rich blue and green tones added depth to balloon sleeves, and models’ braided hair tufts
delicately echoed bridal superstitions. Transparent plexiglass platform shoes paid homage to
crystal heels, completing the unusual yet harmonized look.
Rocha joins renowned designers such as Olivier Rousteing and Haider Ackermann on Gaultier’s
guest designer roster, adding to the famous fashion house’s history. The cooperation exemplified
haute couture’s limitless ingenuity and innovative energy, reinforcing its timeless allure in the
ever-changing fashion industry.
