Moroccan-born designer Sara Chraïbi’s latest collection celebrates the complexity and beauty of
our world, combining craftsmanship and tenacity. Chraïbi’s designs, inspired by the aftermath of
an earthquake, include rich greens and blues that sprout from the rubble, symbolizing nature’s
resilience and rejuvenation.
Caftans and cloaks are draped in lush layers of semitransparent materials, embellished with
extravagant gold embroidery and sparkling fringe accents, or wrapped in the sensual embrace of
black velvet. Chraïbi’s garments showcase her command of texture and shape, with twisted
chiffon columns and velvet bonds that reveal the skin beneath them.
Chraïbi deviates from her distinctive design and debuts print with a gigantic coat with a
perspective motif of the Tinmel Mosque in the Atlas Mountains, which was damaged by the
earthquake. This architectural homage sets the tone for a collection that flawlessly combines
history and modernity, reflecting North African culture’s tenacity in the face of adversity.
Chraïbi views fashion as a celebration of femininity, beauty, and cultural connectivity rather than
just a tool of personal expression. Chraïbi, born within a cultural and artistic atmosphere in
Rabat, graduated from architecture studies to a master’s degree in philosophy and fashion in
Paris, demonstrating her diverse inventiveness and persistent attention to craftsmanship.
Chraïbi’s designs, inspired by her mother’s needlework lessons as a youngster, pay homage to
Morocco’s rich tradition while presenting a modern take. Her painstaking attention to detail and
structural rigor, acquired from her architectural background, imbue each piece with ageless
elegance and sophistication.
Chraïbi’s designs in the world fashion arena are a reminder of the Earth’s beauty and resilience.
Chraïbi’s colorful vision combines tradition and innovation, inspiring us to embrace our planet’s
diversity and celebrate the beauty of creation with each stitch.
